The Geraldton Fishermen’s Co-operative Ltd was established in 1950 by a small group of Geraldton fishermen with a vision to market their quality lobsters worldwide. Some 50 years later the Co-op is proud to be the leading processor and exporter of Western Rock Lobsters throughout the world.
What is the Co-op?
It is a group of fishermen, who are almost without exception suppliers and sole owners of the organisation. Essentially this means that the people who run the business own the business.
As owners of the company, the enthusiasm and dedication of these fishermen ensures customers that “Brolos” brand lobsters will always be of the highest standard.

The Co-op’s dedication to excellence and their position at the forefront of industry is evident through ongoing, innovative quality programmes, which start on board the fishing vessels and carry right through to the point where the product is landed overseas.
Local Hero
At the peak of the season the Co-op employs approximately 250 workers – injecting millions of dollars into the local economy. The Co-op has gross earnings in the vicinity of $100 million and as the fishermen are the sole owners of the Co-operative almost every dollar flows back into the Midwest economy.
