The Abrohlos Islands are fished each year from March 15th until the end of the season, and all lobsters caught in the surrounds are then transported to Geraldton via a carrier boat, ensuring the lobsters stay in a similar environment to their natural habitat until reaching Geraldton to be held at the lives facility. Live Lobster shipments are carefully packed in polystyrene cartons and kiln dried wood shavings are placed between the lobsters to ensure they hold a consistent temperature during transit. These packing techniques ensure mortality rate of less than 2 percent. Geraldton Fishermen's Co-operative operates three processing factories for frozen product. The Lobsters are put to sleep in and ice slurry and then processed for Frozen Whole Cooked, Frozen Whole Raw, Frozen Lobster Tails, Splits and Cooked Chilled. Frozen Whole Raw Lobsters are then wrapped and packed in export cartons and blast frozen in modern state of the art freezers. Our Frozen Whole Boiled Lobsters are cooked in temperature controlled cookers and packed in cartons then blast frozen. Like our Frozen Boiled, our Fresh Cooked Lobsters are cooked and alternatively are chilled precisely ensuring that the lobsters arrive in an optimum state of freshness when they reach their final destination. At Geraldton Fishermen's Co-operative we strive to maintain a consistent level of premium quality which further cements the Brolos Brands superior reputation. We are continually innovating in order to provide the best quality of lobster to the final consumer. Consequently this leads to us placing a very high level of importance into the field of research and development which places us at the forefront of the market. |
